Disassembly

I
moved it into my shop on February 21, 2015. I was going to make an attempt to
restore the unit in time for the National Threshers Association show to be
held in June of 2015.

Lawrence
Swanz, Roger Byrne, and Troy Vetsch were on hand to help with the initial
disassembly. Here the condenser is being removed.

The forced draft blower (we call it the turbo) is being
removed. It will need to be replaced as it had rusting through in several
spots and the cast was pretty all trash. |

Roger
Madden, Mark Kline and Joe ??? showed up on February 26, so the disassembly
continued by removing the engine proper and rear wheel. |

Getting the wheels off proved to be a bit challenging. |
|

After 2 days of dissassebly work |

The next day I was by myself, so I tackled the stoker,
firbox and super heater |
|

|
|
The firebox iwas found to be in pretty tough shape. It will
all need to be replaced. |

Top of super hearter was filled with gravel. Guess it was
used as insolation. |

Super heater removed. Tube within a tube. Steam enters the
inside tubes from the boiler and exites to the engine from the outside tubes.
It will need to be significantly refirbished. |

Dissassebly continues om March 6th. Lawrence, Roger
and Joe were on hand to help. |

Nicholas started the sandblasting as the rest of us
continued the dissassembly. |
|
|
|
|

Pretty much down to the frame. |
|
|
|
A few days later, Wyndham and Kenny Sellers tacked taking the
condensor apart. I was surprised how clean it was. I was equally surprised to
see that it had been repaired sometime in its past. |
